What it does

  • Automatic schedule. Enter postcode + house number. The app finds your council and pulls your full collection timetable.
  • Evening-before notification. "Put out your General and Recycling bins tonight." The exact bins listed in the message — no tapping through to find out.
  • Colour-coded bin types. General, recycling, garden, food, paper. One glance tells you what's due.
  • Customisable reminder time. Default 7pm. Change it in Settings.
  • Offline after setup. Schedule is cached on your device and refreshed daily in the background.
  • No account, no tracking. Address stays on your phone.

Coverage

Binformation works in every council borough supported by the UK Bin Collection Data project — 334 councils across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with around 98% uptime. The small gap is brief downtime on individual council websites. That covers most cities, most boroughs, and most rural district councils. If your council publishes bin schedules online, chances are good Binformation already supports it.

Not all councils have the same bin categories. If your area has a food caddy, a paper sack, or a garden subscription, the app shows whichever types your council collects.

Pricing

Binformation is free. A single banner advert lives on the schedule screen to cover hosting costs.

Prefer no ads? A one-off in-app upgrade removes the banner forever. No subscription. No renewal.

Which UK councils does Binformation support?

334 UK councils across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with around 98% uptime — the small gap is brief council website downtime. If your council publishes bin collection data online, there is a very good chance Binformation already supports it.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Binformation stores your address on your device only. There is no cloud account, no sign-up, no login.

When does the reminder fire?

By default the evening before every collection at 7pm. You can change the reminder time from the Settings screen.

What happens if my council changes my collection day?

The app refreshes your schedule daily in the background. When your council updates its website — bank holidays, Christmas shifts, Simpler Recycling rollouts — Binformation picks up the change automatically on its next refresh.

Does Binformation work outside the UK?

No. It is built specifically for UK postcodes, UK bin types and UK councils.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not currently. Binformation is Android-only for now.
